Learning how to build a website isn't all that hard. But it sure is confusing.
You need to learn a number of steps, and most guides on how to build a website are laden with jargon and confusing acronyms. They'll tell you to upload the file to your FTP server, and be sure your name servers are pointing to your domain name. Wha?
Website Building for Newbies explains each step in plain English.
Each step is a menu item and has its own page.
Here's a summary of each step:
- Find your niche
- Choose and register a domain name
- Get your site designed
- Write your site's content
- Choose a website host
- Upload your site to your host
There are website building programs that automate many of these steps, and those are covered here as well. But it's a good idea to learn a little about each step, even if you plan to use a website building program, so that you have a stronger understanding of what's involved in creating a website. That way you have more control, and that's never a bad thing.
So many choices to make!
You'll be making quite a few choices when you build your website. Some mistakes can be expensive. Others can cost you your hard work and valuable time. So I'll give you the information you need to make wise choices.
But please, don't make any choices until you've reviewed every step. That way you'll end up with a "big picture" of how the different pieces go together.
It's not enough to learn how to build a website. You need to learn how to do it well.
You could spend thousands on a web designer who makes your website do all kinds of cool things. And if you do, you'll probably need to hire another web designer to change it into something that serves your visitors well and ultimately brings in business.
If you'd rather not waste your money, you'll benefit from finding out how to build a website and how to do it in a way that attracts and keeps visitors.
That's why this site is here.
